Kakejiku or Wallscroll for 8x10 photo

This is a shikishi kake style scroll that can hold an 8x10 picture. Displaying the photo or print in this way allows you to easily remove and replace with other photos. This can be done in less than a minute. If you want an alternative method of hanging and displaying photos or artwork, consider using this wallscroll.

If you would like to purchase this scroll it is $65.00.

It is a one of a kind scroll, because I was only able to procure 1 meter of this purple cloth from Japan. The middle cloth is a purple silk with a small flower arabesque pattern. The light gold on the top and bottom cloths complements the color. It is completed with a plastic ivory kakejiku and Kodai san iro hanging string.

If you would like a different color combination please view my webstore or contact to me at sales@customjapanesecalligraphy.com

Scroll acting as Picture Frame

The photo on the left is of a scroll that is framing a 5x7 blank cardstock. It can be used to hang photos, which can be changed out simply and in less than a minute.

The size of this scroll is about 6" wide by 3 feet long. It is made with a silk blue intermediate cloth and a bronze top/bottom cloth. It is completed with black plastic jikusaki (rollers on the bottom, and a dark gold hanging string.

I am introducing a new way to frame pictures. I think it will catch on because of the following benfits. 1. Photos can be replaced in less than a minute. 2. The scroll frames are easy to maintain, transport, move and rehang. 3. It is an inexpensive alternative, that in many ways is more elegant and will be unique to how others hang their photos.
You supply your own pictures and you can change them out as often as you would like. Pricing for this scroll is $50.00, which includes taxes and shipping to the US. If you have any questions please contact to sales@customjapanesecalligraphy.com

Ikigai 生甲斐 Shikishi Kake Wallscroll

Shikishi Kake Style Scroll
The word Ikigai is a Japanese term which can be translated as a "reason for living" or "purpose in life". I have had some challenges lately both mentally and physically, which have hampered my zest for working on my Kakejiku. However, just seeing this formal writing by my wife's hand has me feeling a renewed vitality and purpose.

This is a return order for a customer. But it is a secret gift from his wife. I hope it matches their expectations.

Beavers Making a Dam

Nothing signifies the exploration of the North American continent like the trappers that came to find beaver pelts. The beaver signifies industriousness and ingenuity. I seek the same thing as I make scrolls for customers.

Native American in Canoe

This is a painting done by Polish artist Mariusz Szmerdt. I think he is very talented. I asked him to create a painting of some North American themes, with the idea of the bonsai market in mind. I specifically asked him for a Native American in a canoe. I asked the painting to be non-descript and with minimal detail. I think his use of Haboku is incredible. This is key to a bonsai display and allowing the bonsai to be the focal point of the display. It is done in a Sandan Hyougu style. The jikusaki is Nezumi iro (light gray) and the jikusaki are a stained ebony, that is machined. If you would like to purchase this scroll, please contact me at sales@customjapanesecalligraphy.com
The scroll is roughly 1 foot wide by 4.5 feet long.

Moose Scroll for Bonsai Display

This scroll was made with the idea to display it in conjuction with a bonsai. Ponederosa pine would be a very good species to pair with this scroll due to the location and environment depicted in the picture. I used the cloths to mimic the moose colors in nature, with strong earth tones. The picture is in Black and White, which would not distract from a formal display.

The scroll is finished with ivory jikusaki and a Kincha (Brown) hanging string.
