Scroll with Painting by Ming Franz

This is a painting done by Ming Franz Her work is beautiful and rich. I put this one in a scroll format rather than on a Panel Board. This is stage 2a. I put this scroll in a Nidan Hyougu style format, and used a light gold karakusa to bring out the strong colors in the painting. The green cloth for the Ten and chi does not compete with the colors in the painting and that is why I selected that particular color.

Hanya Masks Panel Hari

These are the Hanya Masks, that are painted by Vinh Bui. You can view his Instagram at this link that are finally completed. I tried to put these in a wallscroll format, but the silk kept stretching and ripping the backing paper. I tried different techniques such as sageboushi, and Jikoku Urauchi, but nothing seemed to work. I decided to mount them onto Panel Boards. I used a blue cloth for the border as a cool color to offset the warm reds in the painting. I think they turned out nicely. If you would like artwork or photographs framed please contact to me at info@tapestryframe.com or call or text to 801-214-4064.

Remounting a Wallscroll

Sometimes customers send me damaged scrolls to Remount. This is one of them. The cloth on the bottom dowel of the scroll called jikubou ahd began to tear. There were also some areas where the fabirc had won away. So I disassembled the scroll taking all the individual pieces apart, and then I started to remount the work on new paper. This layer of paper is called Hada Urauchi.
