This is a wallscroll I made for a church youth group, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City. The theme for the youth this year is in the New Testament
Phillipians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. So the leaders asked my wife to write the character for Strong. I then asked the leader which cloth they wanted to utilize for the scroll and they selected this blue donsu that has a nomi pattern. To complement the strong theme, in the church there is a hymn called "
For the Strength of the Hills" That is the reason I used a mountain or hill pattern gold Ichimonji cloth. The scroll is finished with a lacquere jikusaki and the takuboku hanging string. Some other scriptures for the kakejiku related to strength, hills and reliance on Christ are the following:
