Yosemite Waterfall Sumie

This was painted by Polish artist Mariusz Szmerdt. It is his vision of a photograph of a waterfall in Yosemite National Park. I am taking this to the Golden State Bonsai Federation this week, and intended to sell that there, but think it will be difficult because of the large tree in the painting creating redundancy in display.

The scroll is made with a Benberugu cloth, a shitan jikusaki and an Usukincha hanging string. The reason I ultimately selected this cloth was to help subtely accentuate the vertical lines of the cliff and falls. Dimensions are posted as follows:
Name in Kanji Name in English Size in Bun Size in Inches
天 Ten 123 14.67
紙本の幅さ Artwork Width 126 15.03
紙本の長さ Artwork Length 279 33.28
柱 Pillars 2.5 0.30
地 Chi 70 8.35
掛け軸の幅さ Scroll Width 131 15.63
掛け軸の長さ Scroll Length 472 56.31

Return Customer Ox Sumie

This Ox Painting is the Sumi work of a New York artist. This is the second set of paintings she sent to me. I am glad to be able to do the work. I like the simple brush strokes, but they are still complex because there seems to be some wet on wet and the tones in some brush strokes are darker to lighter.

She chose the same Navy silk with the gold on gold small karakusa for the ichimonji. The scroll is completed with the Usukincha kakehimo and ivory plastic jikusaki.

Dimensions are below:
Name in Kanji Name in English Size in Bun Size in Inches
天 Ten 105 12.53
上一文字 Ue Ichimonji 8 0.95
紙本の幅さ Artwork Width 73 8.71

地 Chi 60 7.16
掛け軸の幅さ Scroll Width 113 13.48

Ki Shikishi

This is the older form of Ki氣. Written for a return customer on a shikishi board in the Great Lakes area. Customer wanted it written in Full cursive or Sousho style, and this is very legible for Sousho. One often sees Aikidou written this way.

Custom Shikishi

This custom shikishi was written by Yoshimi Maples or Ryugyoku, and is written in the Sousho, full cursive, style. The order request was for a first name translation into Japanese. Aaron Aziel. I used the original meaning of the name Aaron which is mountain of strength. I did put strong first to put the adjective in front of the Mountain. It reads Kyouzan or Kyousan Oni 強山鬼.
